This is interesting. I don’t understand why the Jamaican musical influence on Panama seems to have arrived so late. If a combos nacionale group like Los Fabulous Festivals were covering a song by the British-based Cymande in the 1970s then I don’t see why ska,  rocksteady or early reggae wouldn’t have had an impact. Jamaica is geographically closer and has a significant afro-antillean culture. It’s strange.
